• At the end of 2003, Finland was home to a total of 2.6million dwellings, of which every second dwelling came complete with a sauna

• Finland has won the most summer Olympic gold medals per capita, than any other country

• According to the OECD, 15 year old Finns have the best literary skills in the world

• They have the highest standards of education in Europe

• Finland has the cleanest water in the world. 

• Finland is the world leader in management of water resources.

• Finland has some of the lowest crime rates in the world

• 54 per cent of Finns agree that people can be trusted

• Finns consume 12kg of coffee per person, per year, most in the world

• Finland has only 82 McDonalds, compared with more than 1,250 in the UK

• In Finland you only need to work 24 minutes to purchase one kilo of fish, compared with 55 minutes in the UK

• Only 4.4% of Finns experienced some form of property crime in 2002
