10 great reasons

to emigrate to Finland

Sitting at home on a dreary, grey day in the UK, many of us dream of moving to new horizons.  Not many of us though, would think of Finland, especially Lapland.  But now, as property is readily available, the education system is unbelievably strong and Emmerdale is even on the telly, Finland and even Lapland no longer seem like such a unusual option.

  1. Great schools and FREE university education.  Best in Europe and second in the world.  Some schools teach all subjects in English, and all schools will make special arrangements to teach your children Finnish.  The education puts great emphasis on teaching languages with English being number one.
  2. English widely spoken.  You can even watch Emmerdale in English on Finnish TV!  Finns do not dub programs from abroad, as they understand how this develops language skills.  And as the Finns have the same deadpan humour as the Brits, you will always catch reruns of The Office and understand the jokes at the local.
  3. The great outdoors.  Finns love sport and outdoor activities, particularly in the winter, featuring: skiing, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, husky sledging, ice fishing, snowshoe walking, ice skating.  The country ranks number one in sporting success per capita.  24-hour sunshine in the summer, Northern Lights in the winter.
  4. Low property prices, and good capital growth.  Our apartments start at just £59,000.  Visit cabin sales for more details.  Ranked 9th best place in Europe to invest by Channel 4's Place in the Sun.
  5. Unpolluted.  Finland is ranked as having the purest water in Europe and our properties are located on the edge of a National Park with the cleanest air of any National Park in the world.
  6. Low crime rate.  Finland has also been ranked the no.1 country for 4 of the past 5 years for least levels of corruption.
  7. Business practices and achievements.  Finland ranks with some of the best in the world and there are many instances where Finland comes out top.  EU member since 1997 and has already adopted the Euro currency.
  8. Forefront of technology.  Finland leads the world in the use of IT.  Schools are also well equipped to prepare your children for a world where you cannot do without a mobile, computer or latest iPod product.
  9. "Flexcurity"  Taxation is a little higher than in the UK, but the taxes yield results and create security as well as satisfied users of services maintained by tax revenue.  Along with Finland's technological advances, this had led to an amazing transport and communication infrastructure.
  10. A family friendly way of life with an emphasis on happiness over materialism.  Children are accepted and welcomed everywhere from the smartest restaurant to the health club sauna.  Finns also enjoy longer holidays, learning to appreciate leisure time.
